"official" first track layed on the Rio Grande Southern
(this was a couple miles north at Dallas) Ridgway soon
became the beginning of the Rio Grande Southern, and
the north interchange with the Denver and Rio Grande.
There are few remnants of the RGS left in Ridgway, but
the town now has a rail preservation society.
