TELLURIDE

The rails reached Telluride on Nov 23,
1890. This was the termination point for
the fledgling Rio Grande Southern for almost a year, until the
line was completed
through to Durango.
Telluride is now quite a town, thriving on the tourist industy,
and seemingly doing
quite well for itself, although it seemed to be a bit too
politically correct for my
liking, as most Colorado ski towns are. The two things
remaining from the RGS in the
town that I could find are the depot, now a ritzy restaurant, and
Goose #4.
The restaurant looks to be a money maker, and will probably
stand for a very
long time, however, I personally fear for the future of goose #4.
